The day started in Alkhomeet a mountain in Northern isford National Park. The tundra is home to birds and reindeers. We went for a hike in the mushy tundra filled with small streams from the melting snow. It was awesome getting boots on the ground but the tundra was challenging as the mud grabbed my boots making it hard to maneuver.

We encountered a group of reindeer on the cliff side who were happy to just chill while we took lots of pictures. Far too soon it was time to head back to the Zodiac via the snow stairs that the expedition team created. This is our last adventure for this as tomorrow we head back to Helsinki.

Time to pack all the gear!!! Staying warm in this climate is challenging., first you have your thermal layer, then your liner socks, two pair of wool socks then the dry suit, next is the puffer jacket, the yellow outside jacket, buff, liner gloves, outside gloves, hat, ear muffs , rubber boots then the required life vest. Gearing up to go out takes a lot of time and just when you think you have it you forget something!!!

This trip has exceeded my expectations and I am feeling very blessed that I was able to experience the magic of the Arctic!!!

Once I am back in Helsinki the second part of this trip begins. I will be going to all of the Scandinavian countries plus Berlin, Budapest, Prague, Venice and Vienna. This part of the trip will all be done by trains and ferries and took almost 2 years to plan.

Tomorrow I will be traveling all day so you get a day off from the Blog.

Thanks for following along on my Arctic adventure!!!
