This is our last day in Helsinki and it is sunny so w e are headed to Vallisaari Island home to the Helsinki Biennal Art Instillation. This exhibit was created to focus on the sights and sounds of nature and is integrated with the forest.

We boarded a local ferry to get to the island and it was perfect day to be on the water. As we arrived you noticed that the island was just south of the fortress island we had visited yesterday with great views of the fortress.

The islands lush forest made for a great day of hiking. The art was interesting and a bit quirky. Have you ever wondered what earth worm sound like when they are creating mulch???? Most of the art was outside but they also used some of the homes that had been homes to the military station on the island during WWi.

We hiked almost 5 miles in the forest on a warm sunnier day with incredible views of both Helsinki and the fortress so it was a great way to be like a local and get out of the city and enjoy nature.

I have enjoyed my time in Helsinki and understand why it is consistently ranked as one of the happiest places to live!!!

We headed back to the city and to our hotel to pick up our bags. We are headed to Stockholm on the night ferry to continue adventuring .
