Sunrise yoga was the perfect way to start the day!

After breakfast the staff brought out scarves for each of us to try on. I didn’t realize how hot it gets under the scarves. I have so much empathy for the women who have to wear the burkas!!

We headed off to nearby Abhaneri in the back of a local truck with music blaring and all of the locals waving to us. We visited an ancient baolis, essentially a stepwell or waterway built to provide a constant water supply to local inhabitants. This once-isolated spot, now home to a bazaar and various shops, conjuring scenes of the past, when entire communities gathered here to get water, socialize, and settle disputes.

We climbed the steps of the happiness temple and receive a blessing from the local priest. This was a very spiritual moment and as we walked around the temple after the blessing praying on each side I was overcome with emotion. I am so bless to have so much happiness in my life.

Then we were began the long drive to Agra. Of course Agra is best known for the Taj Mahal designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983. I can’t wait to see this iconic building tomorrow.

Once we got to Agra we headed to a shop where craftsman created incredible inlaid art. This is the same skill that was used in creating the intricate designs on the Taj Mahal.

Our last adventure for the day was to the Missionaries of Charity that Mother Theresa founded. Although the sights of the children who were severely disabled was difficult the thing that struck me was they were all clean, the facility was clean and the volunteers were showing so much compassion. We chatted with three young girls who were abandoned there as infants they spoke perfect English and are going to the next door college. They had so much hope for their futures.

As the day ends my heart is full and my soul feels nurtured!!
