According to our guide yesterday, gondola rides are considered a tacky tourist thing but we did it anyway! I booked us on one that early one and one that went into the small canals so we would not be part of the gondola conga line. It was so much fun!!! At one point we had to tip the boat to the right to get under a bridge and Kim was a bit nervous about that bus she smiled though it….lol!!!!
Flooding in Venice is real and you can see the high watermarks on doors though out the city. In many of the old walls they have built drainage to let the water flow back out.
Everything get delivered by boat including DHL!!! I kept expecting to see an Amazon boat but did not…drat!
After our gondola ride we explored the city, walking though back alleys and just absorbing all that is Venice. Because it is so hot and humid we stopped frequently for adult beverages. Then we boarded the water bus and took it around the city again seeing details that we had missed the first time. What a delightful way to spend an afternoon!!!
Dinner then time on our terrace completed a perfect day in Venice.
