We are staying at the incredible Bergen Boris hotel located in the city center. It was the stock exchange before being converted and retains the spectacular murals and woodwork from its former days!!
I saw a sunrise for the first time in awhile. The sun comes up around 3am so most time I miss it.
We only have one day in Bergen so we headed out early to ride the Fløibanen Funicular goes up Fløyen Mountain for panoramic views, goats, trolls and hiking trails.
The views were incredible!!! Bergen is a lot bigger than I thought. Bergen is the second largest city in Norway. Located on its southwestern coast, It is surrounded by mountains and fjords, including Sognefjord, the country’s longest and deepest.
We soaked in the views, played with the cashmere goats and walked in the troll forest!! What a fun morning.
Our afternoon adventure was sailing on a Viking sailing ship!! Getting into the ship was a challenge as we had to climb down the tires on the side of the dock but we did it and it was so worth it. Once we were in open water the sails were raised and we were in the front of the ship in bean bag chairs enjoying every minute of a perfect sunny day. Even though I had sunscreen on my face got really burned a small price to pay for an incredible adventure!!!
When we got back to land we wandered into the older part of the city to see the wooden houses on narrow streets and alleys.
The day was over way too soon as we boarded an 11pm train to Oslo. My first time in a sleeper car!!!
We only had 26 hours in Bergen but had an incredible time in a beautiful city, so yes, another “Best Day Ever…..so far!!!
