Today is a travel day as we take the train from Edinburgh to Inverness in the highlands. As we approached Inverness the landscape change from rolling green hill with lots of sheep to steep cliffs.  The train was moving fast so the pictures I took were blurry….sorry!!!

Inverness, a city nestled at the north end of the Great Glen where the River Ness flows into theFirth.  It is known as the “gateway to the Highlands”

In Inverness we got a taste of Scotland when we went  to the Uile-Bheis distillery for a whiskey tasting and a bit of education on how Scottish Whiskey is made.  To be sold as Irish Whiskey it has to be aged for 7 years in special wooden barrels.  We got to taste the whiskey right out of the distillation process and it is crazy strong and burned going down…..not fun!!!

Our hotel is right on the banks of the Loch Ness so I am hoping to meet Nessie!!!

Of course when we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by a bagpiper because we are in Scotland!!
