I did an early morning walk about and was able to capture the sunrise even though it was super cloudy. I think the picture looks like a watercolor painting !!!
The city is so quiet in the early morning with no tourist about. Soon the church bells began chiming to call the worshipers to early Sunday mass. When the bell ring from the nine church’s in the city it is a beautiful rhythm. I’m not sure how they all coordinate but the result is spectacular.
Weather is not on our side as rain and wind is in the forecast everyday in Lucern for the remainder of or our trip in the city. The planned activity for today was to go hiking on Mount Pilatus and that was canceled!!
With the change in plans we decided to take the cute tourist train to see a bit more of the city. The trains seem to be a popular way of exploring cities in Europe. It is a perfect way to orient yourself to the city seeing areas that you might want to explore later. It is a really fun way to explore!!
It was early afternoon when we finished our ride so we stopped for lunch. As we were ordering the misting rain began, by the time we finished lunch it was a bit more than a misting. As we quickly walked to the hotel the sky’s opened and it rained hard through the night. A little rain wasn’t going to detour us since I had booked a sunset cruise. It was a rain or shine event so we braved the weather and cruised Lake Lucern. Unfortunately, our sunset cruise had no sunset because we are in total cloud cover, even the mountains have disappeared. I was able to capture a few pictures of the simmering lights along the lake and the city.
We got a bit soggy walking back to the hotel but well worth the adventure!!
All plans for tomorrow are on hold but hopefully the rain will ease a bit in order to get outside and enjoy another day in Lucern!!
Lucerne still looks beautiful in the rain.
