Another day in paradise! In the early morning we arrived in the bay of Bora Bora where we will be anchored for the next two days.
Bora Bora has one small town where you can walk ten minutes in each direction and see it all. As our guide said if you don’t find it in the town you don’t need it. No Amazon deliveries here. The town has some fun street art including a native child holding her nose that is on the side of the public toilets. Gotta love the humor!! The pig tire planters in a community garden is a great idea for recycling.
My adventure for the afternoon was helmet diving. You put on this really heavy Jules Vern like helmet then are lowered to the bottom of the ocean. Everything inside the helmet stays dry and the glass is clear, not foggy like a mask! Standing on the bottom of the ocean surrounded by fish who were all nibbling on the sack of bread attached to the helmet it was amazing!! There were so many fish I felt like I was inside an aquarium!! There was a sting ray who kept floating by that was so soft. When my time was up I tried to convince the guide to leave me behind or at least let me go again but no…..drat. There are pictures of the adventure but the internet is too slow to download them so I will share when I get to a better internet.
Back on ship it was a quick change to head out for the sunset cruise on a speedboat. What a blast!! We were speeding along the lagoon to the other side of the island where the Hilton resort is that has the over water bungalows! They are spectacular. Each one has their own pool. I wanted to stay there but at almost $2,000 a night I will be happy on my sailing ship.
We were quietly floating and drinking champagne as the sunset! I am so blessed!!
Back to the ship for dinner with the Captain and then a crew talent show.
This day absolutely was a “Best day ever”!
