We docked back in Singapore due to our scheduled stop in Hong Kong was canceled because they had not opened the city for tourist due to COVID restrictions.

Two of my dinner mates and I headed out to explore the city. The only condition was no temples!!

Our first stop was the sky deck at the Marina Sands Hotel. The hotel and all of the surround area is built on reclaimed land. The boat shaped deck that sits at the top of the building really intrigued me and I was anxious to see the city from that viewpoint. Little did I know that my friends were afraid of heights!! But they were true badass adventurers (BAA) and did it anyway!! They enjoyed the views but were really happy when the elevator reached ground floor.  The sky deck has an incredible infinity pool that only hotel guest can use.  Image swimming with that view!

Then we headed to Clarke Quay to have lunch and take a cruise on the river. Lunch was yummy on a perfect day to be sitting outside on the riverfront.

We then got to see the city from the water including the Merlin fountain that is half fish and lion.   Just as the city was getting hot and humid we headed back to the ship to dress for the World Cruise party that was being held at The Gardens.

The party was supposed to be a gala event held at the Gardens by the Bay celebrating the 928 of us who are doing the full trip but it was really a disaster. It started off with queuing for almost 2 hours because Singapore’s immigration system failed. So now we are all over 1 ½ hours late for the start of the party. When we got there we then had to walk ½ mile to the area where the party was. To say that most were exhausted and grumpy is an understatement. Then when we finally got a seat and a drink in our hand we were hungry, tired and a bit grumpy.   The event site was beautiful but getting food was a challenge. The waiters were circulating with trays of food but they never got close to where we were sitting because all the people before us was grabbing everything as they came out of the kitchen.   I finally started going up to where the kitchen was and grabbing food as it came out and bringing it back to my table mates (they both have back issues so all that standing was impacting them). My group got fed and soon the mood changed. Then came the dancing dragons and everyone was happy.

The absolute best part of the night was seeing the light show in the garden. With beautiful music and perfectly coordinated lights it was spectacular. What a great way to end a day in Singapore.

Travel is not easy but it is so worth it!!!

Next stop Bali!
