At 4:00am and we were gearing up to go to Cadillac Summit in Acadia National Park for the sunrise. The park issues limited number of passes for sunrise so I had camped the website for the day of release and at 12:01 am thirty days before our trip I secured a 5:00am pass to view the sunrise!!! We arrived at the park at 4:45 am and we were the fifth car in line. Driving up the switchbacks in the dark in our monster rental car was a bit scary but what you can’t see can’t hurt you…..right?
We arrived at the summit and secured a perfect parking spot where we could see the developing sunrise and pop out into the cold to take pictures. Then 10 minutes before the sunrise we braved the cold to stand with the others to witness the dawn of the new day. As the sun peaked out from the clouds it felt spiritual, as everyone was silent just feeling the magic of the moment!!!
Cadillac Mountain is the highest viewing location along the Northern Atlantic Coast and the sunrise is the first daylight in the United States.
So blessed to experience this event!! Definitely a “Best Day Ever”
What beautiful views!!! So glad you did not experience the worst of the hurricane and got some sun to boot! I especially loved the Lobster Roll, onw of my al time favorites. You are definitely off to another wonderful adventure. Thank you for sharing!
