After a walk about in the misty rain our horse drawn carriage arrived to pick us up for the trip to Ross castle. Yes, I practiced my royal wave!!! A Jaunting car is a traditional Killarney mode of transport and uses Irish Clydesdale horses.
Our jaunting car ride through the park ended at Ross Castle. This historic fortress sits on the shores of Lough Leane in Killarney National Park.
Next we boarded our coach for a scenic drive around the Ring of Kerry The dramatic beauty of Ireland was on full display with the tumultuous sea, windswept cliffs and mountains. Along the way, we stopped at Torc Waterfall – a natural wonder, the breathtaking Moll’s Gap, and Ladies View – a vantage point with amazing views.
Along the way we stopped a couple of times for comfort breaks (Ok, Irish Coffee and lunch). One place had horses and Irish Wolfhounds!! The lunch break was a wee seaside town where Charlie Caplin used to vacation. We had periods of rain but that’s Ireland!!
The black cows are Kerry cows who’s milk is used in Kerry Gold butter!
After dinner we were whisked off to watch a Celtic Steps show, a lively performance of traditional Irish music4 and dance.
It looks cold, wet, and stunningly beautiful!
Irish Clydes AND Irish Wolfhounds. I may have to move to this magical place.
