I was disappointed when I woke up and it was raining. First it meant no early morning walkabout and second we were booked to go on a sailing ship to explore the fjords!!! Fortunately just before our start time for the ship the rain stopped and even though it was a moody sky we set sail.
The ship we went out in was an old wooden sailing ship! We cruised past the opera house and sculpture for a fantastic view of this incredible building. Soon we were away form the city exploring the small islands of the fjord. The shore was lined with small bathing houses with ladders where the residence jumped into the cold water. We came upon a small floating sauna with people jumping into the water after their sauna.
Our time on the water was so peaceful and I did not want it to end11
Early in the evening we headed out to the waterfront once again to enjoy the sunny day that had developed. One thing I have learned in the Scandinavian countries is that the weather can change in a few minutes.
The local were out enjoying the beach and the grassy area sunning themselves and having fun.
We had drinks and dinner on a barge on the water while we people watched and enjoyed the perfect weather.
Our after dinner walk along the waterfront includes lots of fun sculptures and people happy to be outside on a sunny day.
This was absolutely a “Best Day Ever….so far”.!!
We leave Oslo early tomorrow morning and head to Flåm on a train that is considered to have the most incredible view in the world. Looking forward to the adventure.
