Our day started with a tour of the city in an antique car. It was fun cruising the streets of Prague with the top down until it started raining, then not so much. But we put the top up and continued on!!
We had adventured to all of the must see’s yesterday because rain was predicated today and they were not wrong. It rained off an on all day. During one of the dry time we headed into the Old town area and did a bit of a pub crawl.
We scored an outdoor table under an umbrella right across from the astronomical clock and got to see it preform. The skeleton rings the bell, the doors open and the twelve apostles parade by in the upper doors. What a kick.
We were burnt out on churches and architecture so we decided to find some of the quirkier sculptures around the city.
Hanging man is high above the building on a busy street and most people would miss him if they didn’t look up. The artist created him in 1996 to emphasis the lack of intellectual pursuits. Not sure I see that but it was interesting to see.
The sculptures called Piss is very unique. The fountain’s basin is made of bronze and shaped like the Czech Republic. Standing in the fountain, opposite one another, are mechanical statues of men, standing 210 centimetres (6 ft 11 in) tall with bronze penises, urinating. You command the men to write messages into the water by texting them. Of course we tried…lol!!!
The rain started again so we headed back to our boat but we had a fun day exploring the unusual in Prague.
Tomorrow we travel to Budapest, Hungary.
