It is a spectrally beautiful day in the desert, clear blue sky and only 80 degrees. A perfect day for a hike.
I chose the waterfall hike in the White Tank Mountains which is on the back side of the mountains that surround my community. Within the White Tank Mountains was a large natural basin; called a tank; that held water year-round. Named the “White Tank” for the white granite cliffs surrounding it, this large watering hole appears on maps and in journals as an important watering place from 1863 to 1895. After a rain the basin fills with water and there is a raging waterfall. We have not had rain for a very long time so no waterfall but the desert is still a magical place.
After food, showers and a change of clothes we headed to Main Event for a bowling party to celebrate my good friend Betty’s Birthday. Most of us suck at bowling but we sure excel at having a great time.
After bowling we went across town to Desert Botanical Gardens for the Desert at Night event. The desert was all aglow and it was a perfect night to wander amongst the cactus gardens.
Driving home after a long day of adventures I was reflecting on the day and how grateful I was to be able to experience it. For the first time in over a year I finally feel that I am fully recovered from the 6 surgeries I had last year!!! Most importantly I am so blessed by my gang of friends that supported me during that time and the fun times we have together!!!
As always “Best Day Ever…..So Far”!!!!
