After our overnight flight we arrived in Halifax around 2pm. We dropped our bags at the hotel and headed out to explore the city, Our hotel is at the top of the hill which is great when you are headed down to the wharf but not as much fun when you are headed back.

We took the local ferry across the Halifax Harbour. It connects downtown Halifax with Alderney Landing to view Halifax from the water. The view was stunning.

Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia and largest municipality in Atlantic Canada, is a historic, coastal, and vibrant city known for its maritime charm, 4.3 km long waterfront boardwalk, and the star-shaped Citadel Hill. It acts as a major economic hub, home to Canada’s Atlantic Fleet, with a growing population that blends a small-town feel with modern amenities, rich history (Titanic, 1917 Explosion), and nearby scenic beaches like Crystal Crescent.

When we returned back to the Halifax side we walked along the Halifax Harbour it is one of the oldest boardwalks in Canada. Strolling along the Halifax waterfront boardwalk was a great way to get a feel for the city and its rich history. The boardwalk has a rich mix of historical buildings, museums along with lot of interesting restaurants. Of course we had lobster rolls at a great restaurant called The Bicycle Thief. As we hiked up the hill back to our hotel the sun was setting on a perfect first day of exploring Halifax.
