We left camp in the dark with the mist making it hard to see the bumpy, curvy road from the top of the Ngorongoro Crater to the floor of the crater.
At breakfast we had discussed what we wanted to see today and top of my list was the Black Rhino as that would complete the top five animals for an African safari. Black Rhinos are extinct and normally very hard to find especially where you can see them with the naked eye. Within 10 minutes of reaching the bottom of the crater we saw not one but two hanging out close enough to the road to see!!!!
We watch them for a while enjoying our success in finding them then ventured on to see what other animals were waking up! Five minutes later we encontered a third rhino!!!! Our mission for the day was complete and it was not even 8:00am!!!
We continued to be blessed through out the day including lions feasting on a Cape buffalo along with an ensuring fight between the two male lions and an encroaching hyena hoping for leftover.
One of the funniest encounters was a corting male and female lion. The male was hoping for some action but the female was not having it and told him so!!!!
After a full morning of adventuring we headed out of the crater towards our next camp on the Tarangire river.
About half way there we had the joy of a baboon migration (about 30) all parading down the road right by our jeep!!!
We arrived at our camp that is on the river bank and enjoyed another spectacular sunset!!
