The planned walkabout of the botanical gardens for the was quickly derailed when when I looked out the window and it was pouring rain. The harbor was so socked in I could not even see the water!!!

We boarded our coach for the planned tour in the rain and hoped that the rain would ease! Well that didn’t happen…lol!!!

After an hour of driving in the rain we reached Peggy’s Cove.

Peggys Cove is a small rural community located on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay in the Halifax Regional Municipality. It’s the site of
Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse, also known as Peggy’s Point Lighthouse, is one of Nova Scotia’s most well-known lighthouses and may is considered to be the most photographed lighthouse in Canada. Peggys Cove Lighthouse, which was established in 1868.Located in the quaint fishing village of Peggy’s Cove along the South Shore, Peggy’s Point Lighthouse was built in 1915.

Famed for its picturesque and typically East-Coast profile, with houses perched along a narrow inlet central to an active fishing community bordered by wave-washed boulders facing the Atlantic, many residents of Peggy’s Cove are from families that have resided in the village for generations. There are also many traditional inukshuks here – age-old rock structures used to navigate the frozen north. Even in the pouring rain it was spectacular!!! I walked around the quaint town enjoying all the sites so by the time I got back to the coach I looked like a drowned cat!!

On next stop was Lunenburg a port town on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. Founded in 1753, the town was one of the first British attempts to settle Protestants in Nova Scotia. Historically, Lunenburg’s economy relied on the offshore fishery, and today it hosts Canada’s largest secondary fish-processing plant.

Thanks to its colorful 18th-century architecture and picturesque waterfront, the UNESCO World Heritage town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, has served as a filming location for numerous feature films and television series. Sullivan’s Crossing is filmed here. Yes, it was still raining so the drown cat look continues.

Mahone Bay, a picturesque coastal town on Nova Scotia’s South Shore, is best known for the iconic “Three Churches” waterfront view, vibrant artisan shops, rich wooden boatbuilding heritage, and proximity to 365 islands in the bay. The silhouette of St. James’ Anglican, St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran, and Trinity United churches along the harbor is one of the most photographed and recognized vistas in Canada. So yes I booked around the lake in the rain to get the shot of the three churches!!!

On the way back to Halifax we stopped at Fairview Lawn Cemetery where 121 bodies from the Titanic disaster are buried. The site evoked an overwhelming sense of grief seeing the granite tombstones of so many people who died on the same day including a toddler!!!

We drove back to Halifax in rain that made it hard to see the road then suddenly when we arrived back at our hotel it stopped so we did a bit of walking around in the old town area and encountered some beautiful street are, the town clock and even a moose.

Nova Scotia is incredibly beautiful even in the rain!!!
