Our train arrived in Jasper around 8:00am and I have to tell you it was nice to be outside! The crisp air felt wonderful. Jasper has also suffered from fire and the smell of it was all around. We got to our hotel which is on acres of beautiful forest. Of course check-in is not till 4:00pm which I had planned for. Shortly the shuttle picked me up and I was headed to the air tram to go up the mountain to see the area from up high. The view of Jasper National Park even under hazy conditions (residual smoke) was spectacular.

Jasper National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, there are breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains, glacial rivers and expansive forests. The main attractions here are Maligne Canyon, a deep limestone gorge, and Maligne Lake – the largest glacier-fed body of water in the region. There’s plenty of wildlife to watch out for such as grey wolves, hoary marmot, caribou and moose.

The town of Jasper is shaped like a J!!!

I challenged myself to walk to the top of Whistlers mountain which was a steep climb but worth it for the view!!!

Back down the sky tram and onto the shuttle bus to go explore the town of Jasper. Jasper has some beautiful street art that was created by famous artists so I set off with my mural map to discover them. I was successful in finding most of them but then it got hot and I was tired and really needed a shower so I grabbed the shuttle back to the hotel. I was 4pm so now I had a room. The shower felt so good after 3 days on the train and the hike!!!!

For the evening we headed out on a tour of the park looking for animimals! The animals were all in hiding from the hotter than normal temperatures but we did get to see several lakes and experience more of this incredible park. We did see one deer drinking at the lake and a bull elk grazing in a the field so not a total bust. The sunset was worth the trip!

We got back to the hotel after 9:00pm and I was really tired but happy!! What a special day adventuring in Jasper!!!

So blessed to have yet another “Best Day Ever….So Far”!!
