My first full day in New Smyrna Beach (Aka NSB)began with a beautiful sunrise from the deck of Kim and Ernie’s deck! The soft sound of the ocean waves and the colorful display the sun put on made for a perfect start to the day. we sat and talked about our travels so far and had lots of laughs!
Of course we soon got hungry and threw on some clothes to head to Breakers, their favorite bar on the beach. We ate cheeseburgers while people watching the people on the beach. This part of the NSB allows cars to drive on it and we saw a constant parade of cars driving on the beach. After we were fueled we began walking the main part of the town with all of its unique shops. The weather was really hot for the beach, 95 and I swear that the humidity was 5000% Yes, I know it can’t be but that’s what it felt like!!!! After we saw the world’s largest banyan tree we retreated to the air conditioned car for the rest of our touring.
NSB is know as the shark bite capital of the world so their art project had to be sharks!! We set out to find them and located 3, jumping out of the car to take a picture then returning quickly.
In the early afternoon we headed to Merk’s for trivia and for me to meet Kim and Ernie’s local friends. The trivia is played electronically with team around the world. What a blast!!! Our team came in second….drat!!
After trivia we headed back to the condo for a relaxing swim. We were going to do a walk on the beach but did I mention the humidity is 5000%!!!
Sunset and an adult beverage completed the fun day of exploring NSB!!!!
Tomorrow I will complete another bucket list item with a visit to Kennedy Space Center!!!
