Griffith Observatory was our destination today. Sitting on the south-facing slope of Mount Hollywood Griffith Park commands a view of the Los Angeles Basin, including Downtown Los Angeles to the southeast, Hollywood to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the southwest. The observatory provides an excellent view of the Hollywood Sign! Our view was limited because the city was enveloped by a marine layer but it was still amazing. We hiked one of the trails in Griffith Park to access additional viewpoint. The observatory has an extensive array of space and science-related displays including two large telescopes.
The Hollywood Bowl was our next destination. Opened in 1922 in a natural amphitheater known as Daisy Dell, the Hollywood Bowl is a premier Los Angeles landmark, hosting the LA Philharmonic’s first summer concert that same year. Renowned for its iconic, acoustically designed concentric-arched band shell, it has hosted legends from The Beatles to Yo-Yo Ma.
Since our hotel was only a bit over a mile from the Hollywood Bowl we walked back. On our way we discovered an Italian restaurant, Miceli’s and decided it was a perfect place for dinner. It ended up being a perfect place for dinner. From the fun decor to the piano player the atmosphere was relaxing with excellent service and phenomenal food! The garlic cheese bread was the best I have ever had.
We walked back to the hotel as the sun was setting after another fun day exploring Los Angelous!!!
