We awoke to a chilly morning after a night filled with the sounds of animals in the night!!

We are now in central Serengeti far away from the northern part and the wildlife changes from the masses of migrating wildebeest and zebras to hippos, leapords and cheetahs! As we drove we encountered all of them. We experienced Leopards in the trees for those sleeping with their legs hanging down to those on the prow for lunch standing tall in the Y of the tree scouting the area.

Hippos were amassed on the river. I have never seen so many hippos in one place. I loved the one who had his head on another’s back. We decided it must be a hippo convention. My sister did not love the smell of so many hippos in one place!!!!

As we were headed back to our camp after a long day of adventuring we encounter a baby cheetah who seemed a bit loss and looking for it’s mama. He was running in and out of the high grass leaping and hiding. The best was when he was just walking beside the jeep in front of ours. A perfect way to end our day of adventuring!!

We got back to the camp as the sky darkened and we got a bit of rain. I was hot and tired so as soon as the rain stopped I headed to our outdoor shower to scrub the layer of dust off. As the sun was setting we joined our fellow campers around the fire pit. Dinner was served family style with 8 different dishes of food native to the Serengeti. I was fun getting to try a variety of dishes and I really liked all of them.

I was so tired I struggled to walk back to our tent and was passed out shortly after!!! Another great day exploring the incredible Serengeti!!!
