I did a bit of a walkabout to grab a view of a beautiful sunrise then we were on the road to our next city Key Largo. There is a huge fire burning near the road that we need to take to get there so we discussed our fire plan and headed out!!
An airboat ride has been on my bucket list for a really long time so we diverted to the Everglades National Park to fulfill that desire!! The park we went to not only did the airboat rides but also was an animal rescue. They not only had alligators but a beautiful white tiger.
The airboat ride was everything I had imagined!!!! Speeding through the mangrove trees was thrilling and peaceful at the same time. The Mangroves leaves filter the salt out of the water with those leaves turning yellow then a deep red that are then dropped and replaced with new green leaves. The Everglades use to be mostly grasses but then the invasive mangroves took over. The Everglades are a combination of both fresh and saltwater. We did see a few gators!!!!
I am excited that my National Parks passport has another new stamp!!
Back on the road we headed to Key Largo. We were blessed to not encounter the fire and arrived safely in Key Largo in the late afternoon. We are staying on the channels that are filled with lots of tourist boats along with large boats of the rich!!!
We wanted an ocean view for sunset so we headed to the “World Famous” Caribbean Club that was featured in the movie Key Largo! We sat outside, listen to music and people watched as the sunset in dramatic fashion.
The perfect ending to another “Best Day Ever…So Far”!!!!
