There was a major storm last night that resulted in the humidity going down substantially!!! As I was the neighborhood to catch sunrise it almost felt cool!!
Our first adventure of the day was to walk to the Southernmost Point of the Continental US for the mandatory touristy picture!!!
Next stop was Hemingway’s home! In addition to seeing his home and studio we walked the grounds and encounter many of the 47 6 toed cats that reside on the property.
We were hot so we had to stop for an adult beverage!! Mine was called a creamsicle and tasted so good!!!
Our next adventure was to visit Truman’s Little White House where he spent lots of time during his tenure. Many of his quotes reminded me of times when the President was respectful and put county before self!!!
Ok, now we are hungry and hot so we headed to Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville for cheeseburger’s in paradise!!!! So touristy but so good! Life is good!!!
Some fun facts I have learned during my time in Key West……
Key West has large boulders that surround the island so there is no surf.
Key West has no natural beaches because of the rock so they have two man maid beaches that they import sand for every year.
The US army after WWII created the new part of Key West by filling in 2 miles of ocean with sand.
Key West is considered the best place for sunsets.
Our evening adventure was a sunset cruise on a sailing ship with music and adult beverages! As soon as we left the dock we deployed the sails and it was a smooth sail around the islands. Unfortunately is was super cloudy so it was not a spectacular sunset but it was awesome to be on the water and see the city for a different perspective.
