After a 10 hour flight we arrived at London Heathrow Airport at noon on Sunday, cleared passport control then took an uber to our hotel in central London. The Grand at Trafalgar Square has been converted from a private aristocratic mansion, to one of the grandest hotels in Central London. Housed in the historic, restored Northumberland House. Trafalgar square is the heart of London, where Westminster, The City, and the West End meet. The city was buzzing with people all out enjoying the day as the temperature was perfect and the sun was shinning.
We dropped our bags we headed to the Sherlock Holmes Pub for a traditional lunch of fish and chips. The pub is a local hangout that features lots of Sherlock Holmes artifacts. The locals were all enjoying a pint and watching soccer!!
After lunch we took a bit of a walkabout to familiarize ourselves with the neighborhood including Trafalgar Square, Then back to the hotel to settle in a take a bit of a naps because the lack of sleep and the time change was kicking our butts!
At sunset we took an antique double decker bus around the city taking in all of the beauty of the city!!!
What a fun first day in the city.
Tomorrow we will start our day at the Tower of London and have a full day of adventuring planned!!!
